This story takes place in a forest setting with many wild animals featured as the characters. The main character is a sloth named Sammy who enters an annual race in the forest with other much faster animals. As you may know, sloths are the slowest animals on Earth. This does not keep Sammy from entering this annual race. In fact, he loves taking part in the race, which just happens to be a metaphor for life itself.
I don't know about you, but I don't want my life to pass me by without experiencing anything and everything that I possibly can. That's exactly what Sammy stands for. So many are caught up in the rat race of life that they don't take the time to appreciate the great things around them such as family, friends, animals, nature, music, knowledge, etc.
This book is for children to get this message early on in life! If you've missed out on things because you didn't slow down and enjoy what you had around you, then don't let your children or brothers or sisters do the same... And you know what? It's not too late for you either.
From those who have already previewed the book and based on my own opinion, this book comes recommended for children ages 0-8 years old as well as for children with special needs.
Note: Including the cover, there are 22 wonderful illustrations by the illustrator, Daniel Bressette.
